I am being crunched by a time comitment, and have found a place but wondering about the area...

5407 Fair Ave.
Between North Hollywood and Toluca

It's a 2 bedroom for 1300 month to month. I don't plan on staying in the area for more then a month, before moving back towards Wilshire...

Any comments, suggestions...? Thank you all again!

What area do you need to be in on a daily basis.. work, school etc.

Your picking fringe areas.

You would get a lot more info & better suggestions if you can provide a little bit more info on what your looking for (bungalow, house, apt. unit 1or2 bdrms etc.) and where you need to be pricewise.

is it the building to the east or south of the subway station?

a friend of mine lives in the building to the east, and he's paying something like $2000 for a 1bd, i think.

I'm kind of upset about posts like "Do you speak fluent Spanish?" I went to the neighborhood today and its GREAT. Tons of people walking around, no graffiti, parks, quiet, and according to LAPD crime maps... safe. To be honest, almost everyone I saw there was white, not Hispanic. People should stop posting such negative things about areas they know nothing about. Almost every apartment in the area is 1900 and up; condos are everywhere and being built all over the place. Thanks to everyone who provided useful and well-thought information, I REALLY appreciate.

Mods: Please lock the thread if you would like. I just find it sad that people would rather over-generalize then be honest. Thanks again.

Every place (11) that I've visited in the past 2 days has been an absolute DUMP. I mean, smelling bad, doors that don't close, broken windows, no AC, huge red (blood?) stains on the carpet, etc... The one in North Hollywood is owned by a friend of my aunt, which is why its being offered cheaper to me... The lease is month to month, so it will buy me time to find something in my area.
