HI, I am the first year USC student and wanna find a place to live urgently! Where would you suggest?

In fact, I m taking few classes in Health Campus but most of my time is spending on my Lab in Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (Vermont/ Sunset). In weekend, I will go to Cal-tech to take some classes. I wanna spend $1100+/- for a one-bedroom apt and better stay close with other USC students. I m not quite like staying in the same area of my Lab. I knew that USC health campus neighborhood is kind of awful. Some people recommended Los Feliz and Glendale.... I prefer drive on local. Can anyone give me any suggestion please?

Thanks!

Yep, it's East L.A./Lincoln Heights. Not pretty. 1100 will get you a 1 bedroom north of Hollywood Bl and south of Franklin in Los Feliz if you look hard. You might find a cheap back house/granny unit in Mount Washington. Silverlake is of course an option if you can find a cheap place.

Good luck.

Thanks Sorcerer68. Em.. Los Feliz is definitely the place I should look at. How about South Pasadena? It is close to Cal-tech where I will take some classes in the weekend and also closer to USC health campus. And if go to the Lab, I can take I-110 to I-5? I heard that the rental in So. Pasadena can be even cheaper than Los Feliz.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Alhambra is also safe, and cheaper than South Pas. Plenty of well-priced apartments in South Pas though, and nice Gold Line access. That could be your best bet, actually!
