Have you seen the standards upheld elsewhere in this country? How do you feel that Huntington Park compares in terms of safety? ---I think it fails miserably. It might be a cool place and be near a "cool city," but it has quality of life issues. Maywood as well. Lots of low wages. Lots of cheap immigrant labor. Lots of people bringing down how safe you feel when you go to sleep at night.

This isn't a post saying you should move. By all means stay. If you like it-Good for you! However, I encourage you to travel the country, compare, and seek maximum bliss.

Just a question,do you live in Los Angeles or Newport Beach?

(FYI, I know little about Huntington Park other than it having been considered a bad area since I was a kid and I remember there was a riot there back in the early '80s. I do know it's in a really messed up part of LA county and it has had a serious gang problem for a long time.)

I've been wondering the same thing ever since I joined this message board. He/she sounds very knowledgeable about both L.A. and O.C., though.

What part? (btw, I'm a former resident of "Pakifornia", i.e. Palms, but I just use it as my location as a joke on "Mexifornia")

Okay! I've got no idea what this person is talking about! I don't live in Orange County or near Huntington anything unless it is the Huntington Library -- and NO! The Huntington Library is not gang territory at all! Unless the gangs are book reading gangs -- then maybe it might be.

Huntington Beach is in Orange County. Huntington Park is in Southeast L.A.County. Neither are near the Huntington Library.
