When I was just a little tot in the 70's, my father took me to a place that I think was some sort of museum, and in it there was a very large room with glass enclosures around its edges, and in the enclosures were model trains that circled around the whole room. Anybody know where this was? Could it have been the Museum of Science and Industry?

Nobody else remembers this? You would see a model train and call it with a "My train!", then follow it all the way to an opaque wall, run to the other glass enclosure, see it come out of a tunnel and follow it again to the next wall. Did anybody else here go out when they were a kid (excepting to the ice cream truck)?

I don't remember it but you may want to give yourself more than 24 hours to get an answer to this. I remember going to Travel Village I think it was called with all the retired trains, but then they were real train engines and cars. I think that is over at Griffith Park.

The only thing I can think of is Travel Town in Griffith Park. They do have a big model train exhibit, not sure if it was there in the 70s.

It was one of the museums in Exposition Park, but I don't remember which one. My dad took me there many times during the early 70s. The highlights of the trips were always the dioramas, playing against the giant tic-tac-toe computer, and the train room. It was very dark inside and the trains were behind glass. And I recall there was some kind of feature with the lights, like they would dim slowly on and off, to give the impression of night and day. When it was turning to night the lights in the city would come on. It was very cool.

I think I remember that one too...I think I remember a glass box with a bunch of eggs that hatched into chicks. They were under these warming lights. This is like 40 years ago.
I think there was a giant mechanical mobius strip too. Something like this as I recall:

YES! I remember that mobius strip thing too. And yes, the lighting in the train room would change. Okay then, so it's an exhibition park museum. I don't suppose they still have the train room -- with my luck they probably turned it into the La Raza room or something...

Remember there was also a real space capsule in front of the museum? That was neat-o.
