Is El Coyote restaurant still in business? (Los Angeles, Bell: food, health) - California (CA) - City-Data Forum

I'm curious to know if the boycott affected their business. Did the business slow down? Did others come in to take up the slack of the boycotters? Any talk about new ownership?

I pass by all the time. Business appears good. I do not know if it has gone down as a result of the boycott though.

Last time I ate there was a couple years ago...and it was as good as ever.

There was an article in the LATimes a couple months ago. Yes, there was a slowdown in business. But there was a backlash against the backlash and I think lost anti-prop 8 business was picked up by patrons who felt politics had no place in driving a small restaurant out of business.

yeah, but once they tasted the food, have those backlash against the backlash ppl come back for the yucky food?

I'm new to LA but I just drove by it the other day and it seems to be in good health. I ate there in November and nothing seemed amiss but I definitely haven't been following it either. I think it's still ok bud. Hope this helped.

The food's not very good, but the drinks are truly excellent!

I ate there once. The food was awful. I will never eat there again. It's as mexican as a swedish meatball.
I have no comment on the drinks since I didn't have any; maybe I should've had a pitcher of margheritas before eating, might've made the food taste better.

The food was NEVER good, the people I knew only went there for the cheap margaritas. The woman who caused all the controversy quit going there. She is the owner's daughter. In my opinions Mormons are the biggest hypocrites on the planet. It's okay to be a bigot but last time I checked they serve Coke and alcohol. So if she wanted to be a true Mormon and do everything the church wanted her to she'd make them stop serving those drinks. I guess it's ok to be a bigot and hatemonger as long as no one finds out about it. Business if off there about 30% but that may be a combined total of the economy and the boycott. Taco Bell sure is doing great business with their under a dollar menu. Who has money to go eat out all the time and spend $7 on a burrito when you can fill up at a fast food place for two bucks.

According to an article in the LA Times in mid-December, the El Coyote restaurant has lost 30% of it's business. Thursday nights were sort of a gay night at El Coyote & now is completely empty.
