I understand it rarely rains in Southern CA, and this year the area is facing a terrible drought. I suspect that the media is playing down the drought so that the economy will not be hurt. But with 20 million people in Southern Ca and incredible growth continuing, I expect a water crisis soon.

Should Southern Ca officials limit growth into the LA basin due to record drought?

No. Record droughts are eventually followed by record rainfalls. It's cyclical.

Most of our water doesn't even come from SoCal so a drought down here doesn't matter much.

What if, however, Las Vegas renegotiates their water allocation from the Colorado River. Then we'll have a shortage.

Default Water shortage?

I look at things like that from a market prospective. When you have 20 million people, you have a huge extremely powerful market that will always find its way to get what it needs to sustain itself.

every 5-10 years there's a "drought". it's just an excuse to raise the price of bottled water. don't believe the hype.
