Hello all! I am originally from Ventura and I know how bad the LA traffic is!

If we move, my husband will more than likely work in downtown LA and I would love to live somewhere in Augora Hiils/Westlake/TO area.

So my question is, how bad of a commute would he have from downtown LA to this area (in general)?

He went to a training in LA once, and from downtown LA to his hotel which was in Pasadena, he sat in traffic for almost 2 hours.

I appreciate all your help!!

Bad traffic, very unhealthy, unless he can pull a 6-230 thing (maybe his boss will go for it if a lot of associates would be on the east coast).

Your best bet if working in DTLA is living in Pasadena, etc. In general, you want to live as close to your job as possible, especially in LA.

Pasa normally isn't a bad drive to and from Los Angeles. Augora and Westlake would be awful..

If you love your husband, you will convince him that it is a BAD IDEA to commute from downtown to the western hills of the SFV. What's your price range?

I recommend Pasadena you'll have access to public transportation which convenietly connects Pasadena to downtown LA.

I went from South Pasadena to Thousand Oaks and back this morning. Took just under 1 hour each way, that's with reduced traffic leaving after 9am. Conejo Valley to downtown LA is a brutal commute.

That's a reverse commute too so it'll be a bit easier than what the OP suggests.

Hmmmmm sounds terrible!!! We are looking to spend maybe 2000-2500 on rent and Ive seen a lot of ads in that area for 2200+ or - (3 bedroom). I don't know why I don't remember Pasadena being a "nice" neighborhood. We live in a very nice, safe suburban neighborhood here in Texas, and my daughter goes to an exemplary school...the problem is I am the one trying to convince HIM to move...LOL.
My two little girls are asthmatic (So Cal is best for that), and my whole family lives in ventura, so it'd be great for us...except for the fact that he in the litigation support business and most of those companies are downtown LA. I'm going to look up Pasadena and the rental ads there and see...

Any other towns you guys can recommend nearby that are "nice"?
I appreciate it so much!!!

If your husband would be working in downtown LA try South Pasadena. Easy commute downtown, you could even take the Gold Line. It would be easier to visit family in VenCo on the weekends and your kids probably want dad at home rather than him spending 15-20 hours a week in the car.
