I've lived here for about 2 years and in that time I have accumulated 9 parking tickets. I know, I know, it's stupid and I should just pay them off right away but I was either broke at the time or pissed about getting the undeserved ticket that I didn't pay them out of some misplaced rebellious ideas. Obviously it has all come back to bite me in the ass, starting with my inability to renew my cars registration, and now with my car being impounded.

I never got booted or anything like that.

Anyways, I owe the parking people about $1300, then I can get my car out of impound. Has anyone ever gone into any of the parking bureau offices? On the phone they said I could apply for some sort of financial hardship which would allow me to start a payment plan and give me the release so I can get my car out of impound. Has anyone ever done this before? What is entailed? Do I need to bring any documents? What are the specifics of the payment plan? Any advice you all could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

One of my relatives had this problem, albeit in another state.

There might be a financial hardship plan that lets you pay over time, but it's much more likely you will have to pay the tickets in full before you will be allowed to register the car. It's also possible your license will get suspended. In addition, the city can refer your debt to a collections agency, which will then start ruining your credit. There are books in the library that can give you some ideas about how to sort this out, but you should figure out a way to pay all the tickets ASAP.

No they can't suspend her license over this. That's only if she got a ticket from a police officer and she failed to appear in court.

Also, I never heard of a city referring parking tickers to a collection agency (which is the EVIL GCS services). Even if they did it will not effect his/her credit.

Sff, for 1300 you can find a nice used Honda civic for that price. I found a car for NISSAN MAXIMA SE for 500 bucks in Irvine with ONLY 50k miles on it. It's like new but it did need new injectors. It's CLEAN and the paint is glossy!!

Anyway, like I said, you could just buy another car with all that money and you will be able to register the car without any problems. Just don't rack up tickets again!!! What are they stupid street sweeping tickets???

Regarless, if you want your car out, and you have no cash you can always wright a letter and in the letter offer to do some community service+ pay something. However, at this point, your car is gone and it will be scheduled to be auctioned in a few months. If you can track it down you can also show up at the auction and buy it back...lol

What city are you in???

lol, well it's REALLY up to the person; you know, they may have a sentimental attachment to the car.

Just look at the blue book and do the math but if the car is over 2k or you got custom engine work or a high end car audio system in the car I would get it out.
