Hello, I will be working in Century City, Los Angeles and am going to a concert in San Diego on a Friday night that starts at 9 PM......I get out of work at 5:00 - 5:30......from what I heard it can get pretty nasty on the 5 freeway.....is there an alternate route? Possibly the I-15? How long will it take? Any help is appreciated.

You're best bed is 405 to the 5 South. But if I were you, I'd call in sick or take a vacation day. Why would you want to spend four hours in traffic? You'll be exhausted.

Damn. I am from Chicago, don't know how driving is in Cali. If it's 4 hrs, I think I will take the day off.

Take the day off. Head down there early. I'd leave sometimes between 9AM-1PM. Hang out in San Diego, go the beach, get a hotel, stay with friends. If you leave at the right time, it will only take you 2.5 hours to get there.

Have fun at the concert!

Doesn't matter what roads you take; if you leave at 5PM you will not get to San Diego at 9PM. If you leave at 2 or 3 PM you'll be ok but the 405 and 5 will be jammed since Friday afternoon traffic is the worst. Leave around 11-12PM and the ride should be smooth.

Default Thanks

Here's the thing.......Saturday morning I catch my flight from LAX at 11 AM.......so I can either go back to LA after the concert, which will end at about 12 midnight. Or I can go back in the morning......thats the other problem.

Thanks

That's rough. The best bet would actually be driving back after the concert unless you want to get to the airport a good 4-6 hours in advance.

Traffic should be fine on Saturday morning. If you have a place to stay Friday night, you may want to get some rest so you can drive safe in the morning. Don't drink at the concert and leave San Diego about 7AM.
