What is the Canyon like as a music venue. Considering a Steve Morse concert in January while there for vacation. We'll be staying in Santa Monica. Apparently a Supper-Club venue although I'm assuming this is the same Canyon Club that has been a Rock n Roll mecca for quite sometime. It appears that unless you purchase a dinner that the seating (?) is general admission. Any recommendation as to the value in purchasing the dinner to ensure oneself of having an assigned seat in a "better" location?

I have never purchased a dinner there and wouldn't unless it was a really big name. If you get there relatively early you can set up camp at one of the tables off the floor or there are a few couches. There is also a bar or two. By the way, there is a really good Mexican Restaurant right next door worth going to prior called Latigo Kid. Great drinks too!
