I moved to Oklahoma last year from California. For 20 years, every week I would go to West Los Angeles on business. I spent thousands of hours on the 101, 405, 5, 10, and PCH. LA traffic is truly a marvel - how more people are not seriously hurt is amazing. People weave in and out of lanes, no turn signals; I have seen people shaving, brushing teeth, cell phones, make-up being applied, etc. It is rather bizarre to witness LA traffic if you are from a smaller area.

I live in a little town in Oklahoma now, and neighbors warned me about how bad Tulsa traffic is...the Broken Arrow Expressway, 75, 244, 169, etc. I will take Tulsa anyday over LA freeways. No comparison!

Best advice for LA/California driving: BE INSURED!!! Make sure your car is in top condition at all times; belts, hoses, tires, A/C, etc. You never, EVER want to break down on a California Freeway.

Everyone should try driving in LA at least once....an experience you will never forget. Merging from 101 South the to the 405, up the grade, Getty Center on right as you descend, then all of Santa Monica, W. Hollywood and Beverly below you.....truly a sight to behold......if you don't have to do it weekly it is almost beautiful.
