I just moved to Pasadena and used to work as an office temp in SF.
Google tells me people haven't liked Manpower or AppleOne very much. Horror stories. I applied at Ultimate Staffing and they seemed okay.

Can you recommend any employment/temp agencies in Pasa or downtown LA??

Thanks.

Many agencies closed up shop because of the depression. Try Olympic Staffing in Arcadia, nearby. Spherion if it's still open, Volt, and Office Temps.

I spent a few years as a temp a few years ago. At a few assignments, I'd work with temps from other agencies. Ultimate Staffing was well liked, and I thought about going with them.

Personally, I stuck with Helpmates Staffing Services. They always had assignments lined up for me (back then), and they had a contract with some places where they were the only agencies used to obtain temps (such as USC, the largest private employer in LA).

You should apply to several temp agencies. As a temp, you can always cancel your assignment and switch to another assignment (they'll just give your current assignment to another temp). Thus, if you're on an assignment when another agency calls up, you can either tell them you're not available, or you can take it and tell your current agency that you want to cancel your current assignment because something came up (either you don't like the assignment, something in your personal life came up, etc).
