New Job in Rosemead,CA - Please suggest areas (Pasadena: apartment, rentals)

We need to relocate from Midwest to Rosemead,CA. We have one kid, so for 3 member family please suggest areas where we can rent apartment.

Your budget is the largest factor here. Without that, impossible to suggest anything.

Rosemead schools are pretty crappy. Alhambra, Temple City, and Arcadia are all very close by cities that have better schools and are safe areas. Majority asian communities at this point...or at least the schools are.

Thanks. We can spend 1200 - 1400 for rentals (preferably 2 Bed). Please let me know how south pasedena also.

South Pasadena is nice, but your commute will be longer. Its doable though...just expect a 30-40 minute drive at rush hour times.

Your price range is ok for older buildings.

Overwhelmingly asian, even. Which => better school districts.

I would try Temple City. Your budget will be your biggest hurdle.

Crime is down all over the country, but if you are comfy with the level of crime in your neighborhood currently (look it up on city-data,com by zip). Then check the zips around Rosemead and see which areas are comparable.

So Pasadena, if you can find a 2 bedroom in the price range would be great and you would be going against the traffic. You can consider Temple city as welll. The schools aren't as good (don't know the age of your child) but the area is still very nice and it is almost next door to Rosemead. I do think your housing allowance is going to be pretty tight, but you will find something. What will work and what you like has a lot to do with what part of the midwest you live in now and were you raised in the midwest? If so, you will find the entire experience a little schocking at first, but again, it can be a very positive and interesting experience. Keep all of us posted on your progress. Good luck

South Pas rents are higher and it is too far from Rosemead. Try Alhambra,Whittier or Montebello,South San Gabriel. Temple City rents are higher.

Temple City, San Gabriel, Alhambra, and Arcadia are flooded with Asians. I mean the school pop. is 50%+ in all those cities except San Gabriel where its probably 40%. I have friends who went to TC and Arcadia. Asians hang out with Asians and everyone else groups together, very odd mix of non-asian friends.
