I'm really interested in making a big move to NOLA for the teaching certification program but I wanted to know if anyone else applied and is going through the process. Thanks!

Good topic. Becoming a school teacher these days if an honorable endeavor.

I can't say I am but what kind of teacher would you like to be? Right now I can see a very big demand coming for technical colleges soon. Industrial factories are popping up and maritime shipping is getting large amounts of private investment. The area is largely undereducated for the amount of jobs they're creating and these companies are also pouring money into technical schools as well.

Are there a lot of vacancies for teachers or is it just in the poor neighborhoods? I cant imagine any vacancies in Mandeville, Covington, and places that would gun violence is non-existent.

I saw on the news where a couple of teenagers got shot on the North shore a few days ago. Not quite non-existent.

I would think as a teacher that the poor neighborhoods would give you the biggest sense of satisfaction. I'm sure it's harder, but you could make the most difference there.

Good word. I agree. My question was involved around if there are many school vacancies in St. Tammany parish.
