That's what I was thinking, too. LSU football probably brings in much more than it costs to run. This is political theater.

Exactly. In the premier conference in America. One of the TOP programs in NCAAF history. This all really has to be a scam. At the very least a large consequence free scare.

How is all that conservatism working out now for you, Louisiana, with the possibility of LSU football being cancelled?

They blame it on the guy who's been in office for a month.

I agree, no way is LSU football going anywhere. Any politician who did such a thing would not only lose their job, but would likely not be able to show his face in public there. I know here in Tennessee it would not be tolerated, even a suggestion about disbanding UT football would be met with some politician looking for a new job. Anyone who believes this story has never been to SEC country.

That idiot should have never made that comment . We all know that football will continue . Those LSU coaches trying to recruit kids to come play for LSU have a hard enough job , they didn't need irresponsible rhetoric like that to deal with .

Yes. Such a decision could lead to uproar across the country. I think its all talk because any human being to enact a measure would have serious balls and must not really care what people think.

Not true. Each department can make spending cuts on their own. The state can also get rid of useless consultants that cost a small fortune for the state. The state legislature blames Jindal, but the legislature is the body that votes to pass these spending bills. Wish we could have an independent out of state audit done of the state legislature. They're the biggest bunch of thieves in the state.

Proponents of university education and college football like to say that the merchandise and ticket sales pays for the football program. If that claim is true then how could LSU football be halted by state budget? Truth is those ticket and merchandise sales supplement the sports budget but they still receive funds from the university's budget. How else can they afford the football coaches' salaries, equipment, stadium upkeep, and the salaries of support staff for the football program as well as the basketball and baseball programs?

Merchandise and ticket sales are just a part of the overall picture . Do some research .
