Default OHUB NOLA Innovation and Equity District

https://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...ealth-Creation

Phase 1 includes the redevelopment of the Historic Butterworth and Hutchinson buildings immediately across from the hospital. The initial 55,000 sf is envisioned to have a private rooftop club, member lounge, startup co-working, innovation labs, curated event, and space dedicated to OHUB Futures & Fortress Academy’s software sales, software engineering, cybersecurity specialist and robotic technician bootcamps. The district will contain a mixed-use of commercial, residential and retail communities designed specifically to create, build and position all the citizens of the New Orleans region for equitable inclusion in the global technology, startup & venture ecosystem as a path to shared prosperity, meaningful reciprocity and multi-generational wealth creation in the future of work, fourth industrial revolution and beyond.

This will be an awesome project for the city of New Orleans

Default Kenner’s Laketown Development and Esplanade Mall Area Project

Some older development news that I hadn’t got around to posting:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nol...7b676.amp.html

In what would be its most radical transformation since the Treasure Chest Casino opened nearly 30 years ago, Kenner's Laketown could become the home of a 40-acre, $450 million "destination resort" that will include condominiums, a hotel, restaurants, theatres and a marina, officials said Friday.

Construction could begin as early as next year if everything goes accordingly. Would be a significant development for Kenner along with the planned revitalization of the area around the Esplanade mall.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wwl...c-283245e51b6d

Renderings are in the video for the Esplanade Mall redevelopment which will contain new single family homes, townhouses, parks and new retail. Two big developments for Kenner and the New Orleans Metro.

IN for the property and Louisiana income tax breaks that "must be approved" before "everything goes accordingly", penalizing all the citizens who live in the parish.

The Four Seasons is now open in New Orleans. Glad to see this big project done. Will be nice once Covid settles down. Also nice for it to get some national attention in Forbes. There are some pictures in the articles.

To help cover the hotel’s cost, the developers are seeking $41 million in cash from the Convention Center, as well as a complete rebate of a 10 percent hotel occupancy tax and a 4 percent sales tax on all hotel revenue from sources other than room rentals until the hotel's $516.5 million bond debt is repaid — roughly 40 years.
In the first year, the hotel is projected to generate almost $57 million in revenue from rooms — making that rebate worth about $5.7 million, according to financial documents that were included in the developers' proposal.

Additionally, it looks like the Assessor has not even bothered to update the records for the hotel, now that it is officially opened. Good for business, no taxes, bad for the rest of the public who has to pay that share of tax burden for the hotel.

You mean "business friendly."

Selection for the Six Flags property.

Bayou Phoenix, made up of local developers and led by local businessman Troy Henry, was the public’s overwhelming choice and as of Monday, Oct. 11, is the city’s choice, also. It would include a hotel, water park, amusement park, and sports complex, along with a logistics hub and mega travel center.

Glad there has been a selection for this long process. Let’s hope something comes of it. The plans sound really awesome. Also it’s good that the Drew Brees venture is being given the opportunity to develop in another area. That would be great for New Orleans East if these projects happen.

Default 4.5 Billion Dollar Carbon Capture Project

https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_ro...a4e7c6569.html

The project would create 170 jobs with average salary of $93,000 plus benefits and support 2,000 construction jobs over a three year period…. It would be among the largest carbon dioxide capture projects in the world. The company expects the complex will produce more than 750 million standard cubic feet per day of blue hydrogen.

We need more projects like this. Showing that we’re competitive when it comes to clean energy developments and these great paying jobs that can have a great economic impact…if only we can also get a jump on offshore wind energy. Great for jobs and the economy.

I've wanted the state to capitalize on the renewable energy industry as well, but wind speed maps don't show the state having high enough sustained wind speeds for turbines. The coast is the same, apparently, unless I read the maps wrong.
