I currently live in Lake Charles, well actually Sulphur but close enough, and I am looking for somewhere else in Louisiana to buy a home. Originally our plans had been to move to Oklahoma because of the beauttiful weather, good schools and amazing real estate prices. Now those plans have changed because my ex-husband is insisting that I keep our children here, and I have a feeling it will take years fighting him in court. I have 3 children and my fiance and I are looking for a small to medium town, good jobs, reasonable real estate, LOW crime rates and some scenic beauty, preferably further towards the North of LA. We would just stay here considering this is where our family is, but with all the recent hurricane damage I'm hesitant about buying somthing here. So if anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. And just for the record, Shreveport is DEFINITLY out of the question. Thanx

We live close to Baton Rouge and my daughter attended college at La. Tech in Ruston. We loved Ruston! I always enjoyed going to visit her there. When we wanted "busy" we would drive to Monroe for more choice of restaurants, movie theatres, mall and such.

Well what about Bossier City? There is a world of difference between it and Shreveport. It is nicer, safer, cleaner than port is. The schools are good too; the south Bossier district- SunCity, Curtis, Elm Grove Middle and Parkway High are very good if not outstanding schools. I live here and love it here. Only curiousity about somewhere else would make me want to move.

I am thinking about moving to Sulphur. Can you tell me anything that might help? My husband may take a job in Westlake and Sulphur looked a little bigger to me, and closer to the Gulf. I am originally from Arkansas. We have 4 kids and a LOT of horses. I am looking for somewhere in the country to rent, possibly with some pasture. Any direction you could point me in would be better off than I am right now!
