Hi, we are contemplating a move back to Louisville summer 2012. My husband and I both went to UL in the 90s, so we know the town, but never looked at it in terms of living/working there with a family. We would plan to live in Oldham Co for the schools.

I will soon be graduating from nursing school with an ADN. What are the job prospects in nursing for a new grad? What are the "good" hospitals I should consider? I am primarily interested in pediatrics or oncology, but am open to any areas to gain experience.

-Where you are working
Husband would be working in downtown, me- ??
-How much you are willing to spend on housing
Around 200-225K to buy
-How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate
30 min
-If you have kids: Private school or public school?
public, and we have elementary-schoolers
-What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town feeling? small city excitement? suburbia delight?
suburbs
-Community amenities important to you
parks, kids activities, friendliness
-Pie or cake?
Cake!

Thanks!
LB

I'd say Louisville is one of the top cities in the SE for nursing. Lots of jobs are available. I'd say Baptist is probably the best system, and there is a Baptist branch in Oldham. That said, any hospital is good. Norton is building a new women and children's hospital in St. Matthews.

There is no doubt that the Baptist Healthcare System is recognized as one of the best places (including all other industries) in the Louisville market. My wife is a retired human resources director of an insurance firm, and she knows just how good BHS is.
