I'm going to be relocating to Louisville. There are very few jobs for my speciality area of work. I'm thinking of starting a business in the city and wondering what services or businesses are needed in the area.

I'm not opposed at all to franchises either.

Research, statistics.

I've applied to any job I can in Louisville. No calls. If I don't find a job or come up with a plan B, my husband and I will have to continue living separate. I'm still trying over the summer though.

I see marketing jobs on craigslist. I realize that is a major step down, but with your background maybe you can make the right kinds of connections.

Did you apply for jobs in your field or when you say any job you meant ANY job?

This is a very interesting thread.

I was thinking "what kind of business to start in Louisville" myself.

We will be moving from rural Alabama.

Right now I do website planning and marketing. My specialty is attracting and converting clients. I do copywriting as well. I work only with companies that provide good product or service (meaning, customer gets real value instead of perceived value).

At the same time, I want to start my small car lot. But that type of business requires too much investment. I was even trying to find a business partner in Louisville for that. Then again, I don't want just a car lot. I want people to be able to buy quality car for low prices for cash instead of getting burdens of financing. It is a challenging model to execute due to cost of this business and low margins made per vehicle.

If anyone has suggestions or something, please write them.

Something I want to be clear about: yes, my goal is to make money AND to provide real value to people.
