I have read and continue to read through these threads. But each person/family has their own needs so I thought I would post ours in hopes for some guidance. We are currently doing a lease to own in Greenwood Indiana but are still not sure we are going to stay here long term. We get away to Louisville/Southern Indiana every chance we can, and spent a week down for Thunder in the spring. We love the area, though we haven't seen as much of the outlying areas as I would like, and it's on our short list for re-location. So here's what I'm looking for advice on:

3/4 bedroom, minimum of 1.5 bath. at least .2 acre Would much rather be in a rural-ish setting in terms of mature trees, not being able to see in the neighbors house from inside ours, that sort of thing. No HOAs. Hubby flat refuses and I agree

Easy commute to a massage envy location and a hospital. I am a certified massage therapist, hubby is an EMT with a background in security and degree in criminal justice. Military related injuries are starting to get a bit bothersome with age and we know eventually jumping in and out of ambulances and lifting heavier patients won't be possible. Ideally he would like to line up a part time EMS job and a part time security position, or a full time tech position in a hospital.

Safe area. Duh obvious I know. But we do a lot of outdoor activities in our yard and occasionally will likely need our girls, who will be 17, 15, & 11 if/when we move, to be home alone for a couple of hours. ADT will be installed wherever we land, but keeping the younger two indoors would make everyone miserable so I would prefer somewhere they could play/hang out safely in the outdoors whenever weather allows. Sidewalks would be awesome but for the right older neighborhood could be lived without.

That's pretty much it.

Pretty much anywhere fits the bill. Louisville is much more interesting than Indy IMO

In the Indiana suburbs, I like Floyds Knobs for you.
In the louisville burbs, you will have to go to outlying counties to find semi rural.

I think Crestwood or Pewee Valley would be ideal, but also look at Shepherdsville or Mt Washington in Ky. There are hospitals within 15 min of all those spots. Theres around 30 hospitals in metro Louisville so it wont be a problem . Same with massage spots

I've always lived in Southern Indiana. Much cheaper, plenty of land, and still not far from Louisville. The only downside right now is the bridge project, so if you live in So.Indiana and need to cross Kennedy Bridge, its awful. But there's always the 64 bridge, Sherman Minton.

Floyds Knobs is great. It's a nice area, plenty of land, great schools. You can easily find a home within your needs. Georgetown is also a decent option. Again, plenty of land and Georgetown is still Floyd Co.so you would still have great schools. Both within an easy drive to Louisville while avoiding the bridge traffic since you would use the 64 bridge instead of 65.
