I will be vacationing with the family (wife, 2 kids, ages 6 and 9), passing thru Louisville next week. We would like to ride the Louisville Loop, and I was hoping for a little guidance from the locals. The kids will be on trailer bikes. We average about 10 - 12 mph.
  • Where is the "best" place to park (a Google Maps link would be very helpful)?
  • What is the "best" section to ride, assuming we are looking for about 20 miles total (10 each way), paved multi-use (vs. street)?
  • Is there a good website that shows the trail?
Thanks in advance for any help.

The best stretch is from where Lees Lane ends in the Riverside Gardens neighborhood extending down to the Farnsley Morman House. The stretch from here to Shawnee Park is all bike lanes along roads with lots of truck traffic.

The best parking is either at Farnsley Morman or at Riverview Park (where Greenroad Road ends at the Ohio River.

There is only one waterfoundain from Lees Lane to the Morman House, it is at mile marker 1.8 btw FMH and Riverview Park

I would park at Farnsley-Mormon landing and go from there since there is an actual parking lot. There is a park (I have always called it Greenwood boatdocks) about 3.7 miles from there with a playground. Have fun!
