Junior was hit by a left turning car .She is okay but the other driver just drove off:hit and run.Reported to police. My daughter is newly insured with $500 deductible for a hit and run accident (Geico).
Her car is drivable ,just fender bender(driver side front fender), all lights still work, airbags not deployed .
She is new to this area .Went to Conn's Collision repair quoted her $1700 for repair.$600 parts+900 dollar labor
Any other suggestion?
Would the Oxmoor group collision center ,dealer for her car be better?
Would she be facing a steep increase in insurance premium next year?if she claims insurance this time.
Many thanks for your local advice.

Default Insurance is for ???

You should check with your insurance and see if you are covered with uninsured or under insured. With a police report, esp. with a hit/run, your insurance company may let you file a uninsured claim which may be lower than your $500 deductible.

Let's just say all your deductibles are at $500 and you make a claim and pay the $500 while the insurance company picks up the rest of the $1200 tab. Assuming that the car is not brand new, having the insurance company pay the $1200 is the better idea since it'll take years to equal a rise in premiums for making one claim.
