Hello everyone!
My family and I are from Florida. Looking to purchase (in the near future) a second home in Georgia to enjoy the outdoors. The primary purpose of buying a home in the state is for recreational purposes; hunting, kayaking, hiking, etc. It would be nice to get away from all of the development on the west coast of Florida, so don't want to be in an developed area, 30+ minutes to town is fine.
We have been searching the web for cabins and/or realtors who sell small cabins. Haven't had much luck. Looking for a cabin no more than a 1000 sqft and on 5 acres of land (if possible). Have a budget of $125,000.
I posted on the Macon form because we are looking for something in central GA. This would be approx. a 6-7 hr drive from where we are in Florida.
Can anyone give us some advice on areas this might be possible?
I would recommend looking along the Ocmulgee river. Would be perfect for what your looking for. In the last several years my wife and I were looking on the river as well and I remember there being a cabin on the river. As far as local realtors I would recommend Candy Brown with Rivoli Realty. She is excellent.
There is a river walk in Macon but if you want a more natural hiking trail a great one is at the Industrial Children's home. High Falls which is north of Macon I hear also has a great hiking trail. I have not been there but I have heard of it many times from others.
Thank you so much for your input. Will definitely check out the Oculmugee river.
Does anyone recommend any real estate sites where I can search for cabins? Every site I check out bring up single family homes.
