If it becomes a National Park (Georgia's first national park) what impact would this have on Macon; particularly the communities surrounding the park.
Will it increase their value and drive visible neighborhood improvement?

I do not know the answer to your question, but it would not be the first National Park in GA.

Ocmulgee Mounds will be Georgia FIRST “National Park and Preserve” …. Key Words are “National Park and Preserve” There's a Difference between a National Park & National Park and Preserve- national preserves are managed in the same way as national parks, except that regulated hunting, fishing, and trapping for sport and subsistence are permitted, though the NPS (National Park Service) can close areas to such practices as needed.

If the Ocmulgee Mounds become a national park and preserve, it could generate $230 million of economic impact to the region and more than $30 million of tax revenue for Macon.

There’s also a huge $300 million to $400 million East Bank development project on the site of the old Bibb Mill property off Coliseum Drive will be “getting started very soon.” It backs up to where the park. Plans call for workforce housing, a hotel, offices, restaurants and retail on the old mill site, which will serve as a new gateway to the national park.
