Hi all! I went to UW and am looking to move back to Madison. My employer is located off the beltline around Fitchburg. Would you recommend that I look for an apartment in the Fitchburg area or would a different part of town be more desirable for a single 26 year old? I'm ok with not living downtown, but also don't want to be in an area where I'm the youngest person. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi OP, all i would say is to make sure you find a good safe area to be in. There can be some rough areas between Fish Hatch and Verona Roads, so the lower cost rentals dont always equal the right deal or place.

Thanks! I was looking at Swan Creek and The Vue.

Consider what you want to be living closest to. For example Fitchburg has a lot of trails, so consider living near them if you prefer that. Or if you want to be close to all the downtown activity, go for the near west side neighborhoods - because you'll have a short commute while also being in a very active youthful part of the city. If I was working where you're working, as a young childless person I'd go for some place north of St Mary hospital, West of Park St, south of Regent, and east of Forest Hill Cemetery... I don't know about how housing costs are there though. Just my opinion.
