Madison is unfriendly to outsiders? Huh? I don't think so. Wisconsin may be overweight and out of shape, but the people here are friendly and the women are wild.

Asheville does sound very nice. I've never been there, but i know it gets snow and doesn't have a typical southeast climate.\\

edit to add: I'd never live in Madison...too expensive and i hate all those red Badger shirts... The young college girls at the beach in the spring is a big ++++++++ in my book... who cares if the water is sludge... they should move to institute a clothing option area, but put weight restrictions on it!

Asheville on top, Madison on bottom...

As you can see, winter in Asheville is 20F or warmer then Madison... ouch! plus you are that much closer to even warmer areas of the country, such as Florida ...
