Reports of a 5.5 quake near Ottowa Canada. I live in mid Maine. I felt it too at that time. I was sitting at the computer. The house started shaking. It actually made me feel nauseous. I have felt slight shaking before and my bf and neighbors always say it's logging trucks going by on the other road. Not this time! My bf was sitting on the bed watching tv and I said what the heck, did you feel that??? And he said yes. All my three cats were sleeping and they jumped up and looked out the window. One even hissed at and nipped the other cat. Don't know what that was all about.

Did not feel it here in Freeport. We sit on top of a zillion tons of ledge so we hardly ever feel an earthquake here. Once I was talking to a friend in Yarmouth on the phone when one hit. His cupboard doors were opening and closing and cups were falling on the floor and I felt nothing here on the rock.

I was in a tornado once down south. That was scarey. This is my first earthquake. Not liking it much. I hope there are no more closer to home. I looked on mapquest and it's 355.52 miles from here to Ottowa. Close enough for me. I read that it was felt all the way to New Jersey and Michigan.

Interesting about the cats. Reminds me that a long time ago people were contemplating predicting earthquakes on the basis of animal behavior.
