In previous posts I have suggested folks go to Harraseekett Lunch and Lobster in South Freeport for their fresh fish sandwich. I can no longer recommend that sandwich. I had it today and while it may be fresh fish I have no idea what kind of fish it was. It tasted like mackerel! It used to be haddock. DW had the same thing and we were very disappointed in that sandwich. They have also changed their onion rings to these huge things you could use as a life ring!! I'm not kidding these things looked like doughnuts with a slice of onion inside. Enough grease to draw a DEP fine if you drop one overboard! The lobsters I'm sure are fine as is the rest of the food but our favorites are gone and we are too! Not again!

many moons ago, i went to the harraseekett, for an anniversary, though pricey, the food was terrific!

I would suggest you give the owners, feedback-perhaps there is a new chef or kitchen manager, and until someone complains, the owners may think they are doing a good job

You probably went to the Harrassekett Inn on Main St in Freeport. Harraseekett Lunch and Lobster is right on the water in South Freeport. Whole different thing. Harraseeket Inn is a 5 star restaurant and Harraseeket lunch is a fried food and boiled lobster place.

We were there for lunch last summer and it was outstanding, the DW had lobster and I had the haddock and chips. And we shared the onion rings. Very sad to hear your experience was poor.

It's just since the beginning of this summer.
I blame the economy for the owners being forced to cut corners. The weather forced these places to take a huge hit last summer and it seems like they are making up for it by offering cheaper products at the same prices. The haddock was great and well worth the $7.00 price but the Cod (or whatever it is)....not so good and certainly not worth the $7.00. The onion rings have just gotten too big and are comical.
