I'm a *local* ..however have done extensive research with regard to the type of relocation you describe. It is quite a process, and a good deal of paperwork involved. One would need to review visa requirements, work authorizations, and a host of other things. The best place to start, if indeed you are seriously contemplating such a move...would be to look up the US immigration website. You should be able to get a good start by looking up the website for the US embassy, it will have links to a variety of things including the applications etc.
I will say .. when I have travelled abroad, the countryside in western Scotland has reminded me of being here at home. (Just with more snow here, less rain...though it can be equally as unpredictable here! )
