What should I be looking at to see the difference between a lynx and a bobcat? I know the hair tufts are longer. A lynx never entered my mind when I saw the pics.

Lynx have black ear tufts and very slight black edging around the ears. Also the Lynx have longer legs and their tail has a heavy black tip while the Bobcat has thin black bands usually and a thinner black tip on the tail with white under it. Lynx don't have the white under the black tip on their tail. Lynx generally have a "frosty" look to their fur. Usually they appear gray with very slight spots on their front legs.

Can anyone show me what a fisher cat looks like? I googled it and although got a description, I couldn't find a drawing or picture anywhere. Locals warned me about the danger to my pets when I first settled in my Maine nest but I wouldn't know one if it bit me. From what I've been able to gather, it is somehow related to the weasel.

They are usually between 30- 40" long and can weigh as much as 30#. They are wicked fast and believe it of not they can be quite curious when it comes to humans. I have had them follow me through the woods while out camping and they stayed about 20-25 feet away, then when they decided I was no fun, or just too damn big to eat they each have just turned and disappeared into the gathering darkness. They are nocturnal and the best time to see them is just before dark in the Summer. At least that is when I have come across them.
