I moved back to my home town in Maine and have regretted it ever since - people here are still stuck in time - are reclusive - avoid new comers - resent diversity - inexperience - village thoughts - rude customer service - amateur businesses - I could go on - all this has overshadowed my happy childhood memories - wish I never returned.

This is a stark opposite to what I have found. I am starting my third year living Downeast on the Coast, and I have never regretted moving north 800 miles one little second.

People are extremely friendly, love newcomers, enjoy diversity and even encourage it, have village thoughts but are more cognizant of the wider world(I count numerous retired foreign service, government, and high level military as friends who know way more about the world at large than I), delightful and caring customer service, and clearly the most professional of businesses and service(dental and medical included). All of this is way better than I ever experienced down in the Central Mid Atlantic Region, where I lived for 62 years.

And to top it off, my pension goes way way further.

The big draw for me would be finding out if the bowlers wore bowlers during bowling...

Really? Naked bowling? Where? of course I'm very sure that I don't really want to be seeing people my age doing naked bowling. That would be an image that would take a long time to exorcise from my thoughts. Reminds me of the time my brother in law had to get my naked 320 lb mother in law out of the bathtub when she couldn't get out herself. Oooooooooo

How about naked bowling with Fashion Models.

I've had village thought since I retired. My sister got on my case when she was still talking to me because I had village thought. I've never been able to influence the world much with my ideas. And my voting for a presidential candidate more times than not was the kiss of death for winning. So since I retired I only look at the nations news if the price of gas rises suddenly, or during the world series when the Red Sox are in it---like now. I used to be a Phillies fan, but now I live in Maine and I'm a Red Sox and Patriots fan.

When in Rome.......
