Is it? I know many people who live in Maine and were born and raised there. They lve all over the state and the majority of them are ready to move due to the high taxes (which are geting worse all the time) ad the high cost of living.

The majority, huh? Funny, there are numerous Mainers who are regulars on this board, and I've only heard of a couple of them wanting to move out. Talk about your over-generalization!

Maybe you should start a poll to find out! I'm sure those here would LOVE to be your test group!!

Okay,... my family is from Maine (many generations). My parents moved to Massachusetts to work in the factories and make a living. Many of us have returned as adults, cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and so forth are here. It's a choice of lifestyle for me. I am on a fixed income. I find money goes further here, but again part of the reason it does is lifestyle. If you prefer your nails in a paper bag from the hardware store to Acrylics done in a salon,.. Maine may be for you.

Hmm,

I just moved here, we LOVE the low taxes!

My property taxes for the past two years have been $47/year, that is for 42 acres of riverfrontage.

$1.05 per acre may well be too high taxes for you, but for us this is great!

We have lived in high tax areas, and this simply is not such an area.

If you look on-line, as many have, you can see that Maine is NOT the highest taxes state.

We have low crime, a low population density, and a generally friendly attitude.

Not many places could I afford to raise a family, buy land, build a house, own and operate three cars and a motorcycle; all on a pension. But then again, here I am.

It's the price of gas that's killing me. Can't actually live "in Maine" and be close to anything so I have the gas prices to contend with. Yay! Ah well. As for the photo - I think that Blueberry Hill is one of the prettiest places and that's not far from where this picture was taken at all.

Well since the prices of fuel are so high, are you sure that you can afford it?
