Yes, or at least I know his family-went to school with his daughters. They have not yet recovered the body
I heard the heliocopter on Saturday (I'm only about 2 miles away as the crow flies) and pretty much knew that someone was missing- we don't get too many heliocopters down here, unless they are looking for pot growers or missing fishermen. It was a horrible day to be out on the water.

For anyone that used to come down to DI a few years ago, he operated a small general store/gas station (Byron's) on Little Deer Isle, between the bridge and the causeway. He closed that probably 10 years ago, and had been lobstering a bit since.

And about the whales- the lobstermen requested a second fly over to look the whales and none were spotted, thus lifting the ban that was put in place for the downeast lobster zone.
