Wish there was a better site to revue rates. I switched to Electricity Maine a year ago. They were less than CMP.

They just sent me a "we will automaticly renew you if we dont hear otherwise from you" email and the new rate went up from .0068238 to .007924. That seems like a huge jump to me !!! About 14% !

Anyone up on where to get a comparision list thats easy to figure out ?

Thanks for any help.

Mark

I think I'll just stick with the Standard Offer for now.

Yep, we were all duped. I already went back to standard offer.

Standard Offer (PUC) 6.826 (¢/kWh)
Electricity Maine 7.98 (¢/kWh) 1 year contract ($100 early termination fee)
Electricity Maine 8.49 (¢/kWh) 2 year contract ($100 early termination fee)

Those dogs. At least they forced CMP to be more competitive.

Whats the process for switching over to CMP standard offer ? Do you remember ?

Thanks

Call and ask when your contract is expiring, when it comes close to it, tell them your not renewing.

I need to switch back to standard too. Did you call CMP or the provider? I'm with fairpoint now, and they're upping their rates about 30%. Standard is now the best. go figure.

Well, here's the problem: Electricity Maine's rate is locked I believe, and the standard rate isn't. Since you can't just bounce back and forth because of the "early termination fee," you kinda need ESP to know which rate will be better over the long run. It seems to me that the contract lengths seems to be growing longer and longer, taking away a lot of flexibility.

Why would the rate be higher for a longer commitment? I worked in telecommunications for 10 years and the rate went down with an increased spend.

The point being that the Standard Offer could rise every month for the next twelve months, whereas the Electricity Maine offer must be held to for twelve months. Obviously, those providing electricity to Electricity Maine feel the price is going up.
