Hey all, I'm back in Santa Fe. Italy was beautiful. Lake Como even better. But I will not be living there. The dollar isn't worth a poop. A glass of wine could pay for a whole dinner in Santa Fe.

I found a small, old, but very sweet house in Tuscany that my sister and I could afford , but now we're not sure we want to live out of the U.S.. Maine is still very much in the picture for us.

I have missed all you folks sooo much !

I love to travel....but would think long and hard before leaving the USA....heck I can't even think of a good reason to leave Gorham Maine. We are planning a trip to Japan this fall, and I don't really want to leave....but family matters.

We almost bought a house in Canada several years ago when the dollar was very strong. Thank goodness we didn't because we wouldn't be able to afford living there now with our weak "pooped" currency. We opted for Maine because of retirement, health care, and Canadian taxes, and of course because of all those wonderful Mainers! It wasn't meant to be thank goodness. We went to Ireland, and had two sandwiches and two bowls of soup, no beer and it was $30 just for the lunch. Beers were $6 each. Irish whisky was however, cheaper than beer. $2 for a 6oz. Classic Coke and a buck for the whisky.

Welcome back Sister! We missed you guys!

So glad you had a great time and are back. We have been to Lake Como as well and it is absolutely beautiful. And trust me we know exactly what you mean by expensive and the U.S. dollar not being worth "poop" as we have lived here in Europe since 1995 and seen the decline of the dollar. We were actually thinking about driving back down to Lake Como over the memorial day weekend but with dollar being so weak we probably we just stay home and do some local traveling. We are bailing from Germany and will be moving to Maine in 12 months and 28 days (whose counting LOL)
