That the crows don't seem to be tearing up lawns like they've been doing for the last couple years? Wonder if the winter killed off the grubs this year? Or maybe just a bad grub year.

We've never had a problems with local crows tearing up the yard. We still have lots and lots of crows in the area.

Haven't seen the foxes in a long time though. I'm wondering if the neighborhood crazy cat lady poisoned them.

I was under the impression that skunks made an especially heinous smell (not the normal one) if they were shot? I have relatives that shot one under their porch and regretted it for a LONG time.

Never heard of crows digging up lawns! Skunks, yes. Crows, no.

Yeah, they'd rip a piece of turf off, shake it, then look for grubs. They devastated many lawns in the Bangor area the last two Springs.

Actually, the skunks did a number on my back lawn just before winter and more recently this spring. Worst I've ever seen, but they're after the Japanese Beetle grubs. I also caught a massive quill pig doing the same thing on my back lawn, quickly dispatched to keep her from stripping my apple trees of life yet once again.

Hopefully this Indian Runner girlies will help save the garden from the beetle attack this year. We got four and they were all sitting in the grandaugher's lap last night (each about 10" tall) purring like cats. Now, I've purred through a duck call to bring in red leggers, but I guess I never knew ducklings purred. LOUD. Pretty cool.
