Ahhh finally back in Maine allbeit only for two weeks but I am in Portland for the next two weeks and headed north this coming weekend to meet with a realator.

My question is since I will most likely have to install a well and septic system, what am I looking at for the cost on the two items?

Thanks to everyone in advance for posting.

Depends on number of bedrooms in your home for septic. And the well will depend on how deep they have to drill. It can vary greatly.
Our well was $4400, its 205 ft deep. That was 14 yrs ago. Next door neighbor's well is like 30 ft deep, but I don't know what it cost. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Ahh yes that would have been good info to put in for you. The house plan is 3400 SF.. 3 bedroom and 2.5 baths. There are 3 of us now but in a few years just the wife and I. I guess it will matter greatly on how deep they have to drill the well in the cost. Tks

Thanks mollysmile..... feels "right". Been gone for 23 years and couldn't wait to leave but now ... getting older (41 so not old old ) the priorities have changed. We will save up for our house for the next two years until our DoD contracts are done and then we are back for good. It is getting harder and harder as we are mentally ready now but the wait will be worth it financially.

Already scoped out the closest Amato's and will be there this afternoon. mmmm

Our well is 165 foot and cost us $3500.

Our septic site was approved and a system designed for us at $150. It has not been installed yet.

Default Septic

There are so many variables in a well and a septic that there is no way to really answer your question. Having said that the well estimates of about $4000 are pretty good but $10,000 for a septic would be a great deal. Don't take the lowest bidder on the septic system unless the guy has a good reputation. You may never know if he put in everything the design called for because all of his work will be underground.
