Don't think Portland is dangerous now?

WCSH6.com - Woman Hurt In Drive-By Shooting (http://www.wcsh6.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=80778 - broken link)

PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- A Portland woman is back home after being shot in the leg overnight. Police say someone fired several shots into a home on Taft Avenue, one of which struck 32-year-old Hay Kim.

Police say this was the second shooting at the house this year. The first one was on New Year's Day. And Kim says her family also was shot at three years ago in their old house on Brighton Avenue. No one was hurt in either of those incidents.

What is the rest of the story? Even the real dirtbags I know are not shot at a couple of times a year.

Sounds like the problem isn't with Portland, just with one particular family. Compared to other cities, Portland is calm.

Yep, I have to wonder what they're doing to make so many people feel the need to shoot them.

Default Focus on the positive

I have been reading this chat for years and posting for awhile, and it seems to me a waste to spend time focusing on the broad (countrywide) negatives (luckily only a very rare few posters continue to do this!). YES there is crime, violence and TRAFFIC- EVERYWHERE (where are my poles and skis folks). But we are so BLESSED here in Maine to have a smaller slice of that modern problem pie. We should be thankful and gracious not complaining about our lot. What I worry about is how the mill towns will make it now that a whole culture is becoming displaced. How will the fishing villages survive without an ample supply of fish...traffic in portland and random crime seems less significant than the future of our small towns in the wake of massive social and economic change on the Maine homefront.

Well, PTR (Bless your heart) You are at it again. Stop being so down on Maine and be thankful they are always shooting at the same people. Here there are drive by by the dozens EVERYDAY not on such rare occasions that it even is news worthly any longer. "oh...again, "Bless your Heart"

I second the motion. Drugs have turned many a man and woman stone crazy.
