Verizon Wireless - it's the best! Not the cheapest but the coverage is amazing. Rarely a dropped call.

Living in the Bangor area, I have Verizon Wireless - great reception, and perfect customer service; TimeWarner Cable/Internet, and it's the best I've had.

Just returned from visiting Maine from Portland to the North County with my Sprint cell service. Great reception in Portland only. Zilch along the mid-coast and barely any signal at all along I-95 as I passed Bangor which really surprised me.

I have Verizon and the coverage is pretty good. The only problem I had was while in Fort Kent last weekend visiting a college I was bouncing off a Canadian tower and getting international rates. Up in the county though the reception is a bit spotty, especially along RT 11. The south and central part of the state is fine though.

Unicel is the best, you dont have to sign a contract but still get the same monthly price. I still have my Unicel phone up here in Alaska and it works perfectly. I got my phone in Presque Isle. When i drove to Alaska my phone worked 99% of the time

I moved up here with Verizon. But that was before Verizon moved into Maine. I got no signal, once I got past Portland. I kept paying my monthly bills, and I complained every month. I even drove down South to Brunswick to the Verizon store, I argued with the salesmen in the store. My cellphone in HIS hand, got one bar of signal, and he still insisted that Verizon was the best. Finally after nine months, I got a Verizon tech to admit that their towers ended at the stateline and any signal in Maine was bleed-over from out of state. And they finally agreed to cancel my contract. then this winter, Verizon signed a deal and moved into Maine and got Unicel to accept Verizon signals onto their towers.

I use Unicel, sitting at my desk, typing this, I can see the red flashing light from the top of a Unicel tower. I get strong signal.

I do not have a cell phone although I used to. The signal was variable to the extent that the last month that we had service, we actually placed two phone calls, which made the cost of each phone call (two phone service) about $35 per call. I don't want to call ANYONE badly enough to spend $35.

At that point, AT&T had no service that was reliable in Hancock or Sullivan and east on Route One. The store here admitted it, and I cancelled the contract for "failure to perform" under the contract. AT&T was NOT happy.

we are planning to build a new home and move away from where we live now. We will be moving down the Blue Hill peninsula next year, and Iam not sure what we will do for phone service, and it may be that we will have to have a cell phone. Currently we use Vonage and have Time Warner Cable for both tv and Internet. Right now in the town that we are moving into, there is no cable tv service and without it, we will not be able to use Vonage. At that time we will have to decide about using Wild Blue for Internet, and telephone service will likely be via cell phone as I will NOT ever allow Verizon to have ten cents of my money.
