Ok, I'm just desperate to get out of this state now.

Anyone know anything about Baileyville? There's a cute little house there that's reasonably priced. Not on the water. No water view. But it's in northern Maine.

It's a nice small town, has an elementary and a high school and is close to shopping in Calais. There's a grocery store, post office and gift shop. Baileyville (aka Woodland) has its own police, fire and ambulance.

My husband works in Baileyville and my daughter attends the high school. We like the community.

Ohhhh Adding - when you talk with an agent ask about the smell of the mill. When I talked with our agent last week she said a lot of people avoid buying there because of the odor. Ask what part of town the house is in and if it smells there. It's not a 24/7 odor and people do get used to it, but it's really not something you want to move into and adapt to.

Yes, it's a nice area. When I was a younger adult, I rented a home in the area. I enjoyed my time there very much. I found a home 7 miles out of Baileyville for a great price and had to take it. I have good memories in Baileyville.

p.s. Yes the mill is in town, but I am not sure where abouts this house is, but where I rented I seem to be lucky not to be over whelmed with any smell from the mill.

The mill smell mostly goes to Canada.

Default Balieyville

I KNOW this town well, it is nice in many ways. The school is improving by leaps and bounds : ) and the people are very nice. There are some amazing homes and you are close to Calais and everything else.

But the SMELL at certain times of the day can humble even the toughest hombres (yet kids born there will say "what smell). So, realize there is a MILL there and that paper processing is not, shall we say welcoming in odor.

But if you can get past 1-2 hours a day of smell to live somewhere very welcoming in most ways-go for it!

Bailleyville smells like the paper mill which resembles an odor similar to a combination of cabbage and dirty diapers. Smells like a paycheck to those that work there.

There is an area off of rt 9 which is pretty though and the odor isn't so great.
