When I'm out in the woods I'm always reminded of my hunter safety class and how mindful one has to be aboout even a legitimate shot. Some hunters will fire at a true target(real deer!) and not be aware of what's beyond, just in case it's a miss. The blaze orange can be seen quite a ways, perhaps tipping someone off to the presence of a walking trail or a road beyond the brush. Blue between the trees isn't always the sky!

This can be very true. Years ago I heard a game warden tell a story of a flat lander shooting a Jersey cow.

I was sitting on a ridge overlooking a road killed deer expecting I might get a coyote. I saw something brown off to my right going down hill toward the deer. It wasn't bounding, just going fast. At the edge of the woods a guy came out riding a mountain bike. He was wearing a brown sweater.

(This is not a good idea in Northern Maine.)

Where did you ever find the blaze footies? Are they a hazard near the wood stove?

All I hear in my head is a cross between the 'brow-chicka-brow-wow' and dueling banjos!

We took a ride around Pownal on Saturday and were encouraged by the number of folks working in the yard or just out for a walk who had the good sense to wear an orange hat or vest! Even the joggers for the most part were wearing some orange!
