Hi,
I was wondering if anyone out there has a timber frame. I have a friend who is going to build one in Jonesport, but is still looking for the right company to go with.

No sorry. We do have a neighbor that lives in one.

I have seen a couple different places around here that make them for you.

We bought a steel pre-fab shell, it was much cheaper and gave us a much larger floorspace.

There are several local timber frame builders and many, many more that you can find on the Internet. Acadia Post and Beam is a local company that creates amazingly meticulous frames for homes...very expensive but amazing joinery work.

Check the Internet! You can also look at the largest builders' supply company in eastern Maine, which is EBS Building Supplies (www.ebsbuild.com) Their website has a list of builders and among them is at least one company that builds timber frame houses.

Yes, Acadia Post & Beam on Route 1 in Sullivan has a great reputation. I listed and sold (I'm a real estate agent) one of their houses a couple years back and fell in love with the quality of the place. Here's link to their website: Acadia Post & Beam

Here's another one that is very reliable.

Distinctive Timber Building Kits Inc.

They have a plant in Stillwater, Maine. They make a very rugged building at a good price.

LOL. It's the same outfit as boonskyler. Maybe I recommended them to him. I knew them under their old web site which automatically shifts to the one above.

Thanks for the info I will pass it along. Glad to hear good things about a company from someone ho has dealt with them and are happy with the finished product.
Timber frames are beautiful aren't they? They even smell wonderful. Always loved the smell of wood,as a kid I always loved going to the lumber yard with my Father.
