Back in the early 60s as noted by my login name, I lived in Limerick. Its a place I'll always remember. I currently live in WI, but still remain in touch with a few people from Limerick -- even after all these years. I've visited several times since our family moved from there. My Dad was in the USCG and was stationed out of Portland. Limerick will always be my Mayberry. We had a nice home and four acres of land. Our TV received only one channel and we had only one phone. Not good with seven kids in the family. But it did force you to be creative and find other things to do with your time, and we did. I spent much of my time outside all year round and indulged in all sorts of activites. There was something like 200 kids in the school I attended. That included grades 1-12 all in the same building. I'll never forget Limerick and all the other small surrounding towns -- as well as Portland where my Dad took us for the best damn Hoagie I've ever had. May one day come back to Maine and retire. You can take the kid out of Maine but you can't take Maine out of the kid.

I call them hogies, is that what Maine calls them? Or is it a sub, grinder or poorboy?

My grandmother (Portland) called them "Italian Sandwiches" and I think that is still the most common term around where I am. In other regions I think the other terms are more common and I call it an Italian Sandwich but would look for Grinder Rolls in the bread aisle of the supermarket.
