We are looking for a Rural town and a small fixer upper farmhouse with a barn,to either rent,rent to own or buy cheap!! It would have to be safe enough to live in though,and have a good foundation,roof,plumbing,and electric!!! And a few acres of land!!! I would love to have some chickens,a veggie garden,and a place to have a swing set and bbq.And no more than an hour drive to either Portland,Augusta,or Bangor!! Helpppppp!!!!!!!!!! Thank You!!!!

Sounds like you want the idylic lifestyle. Good land, good farmhouse, good neighbors. But you don't say in here (and before Acadien asks) have you ever been to Maine? We get a lot of people asking fro the same sort of thing but haven't been up for more than a few weeks in August. It ain't Newark.
Can you give us some more details about you anfd the family?

Deborah, I'm not really sure what those questions of YOURS have to do answering Csilla's questions.
Csilla for your money your best bet for small towns would probably be around the Augusta or Bangor areas. I'm not familiar enough with the towns around Augusta to make suggestions, but there are a number of little towns within an hour of Bangor that would probably work for you. One of the easiest things to do to help with your research is to search the threads in this forum for Bangor (or Augusta), and then note the surrounding towns that posters have mentioned. That will help you form some specific questions. I lived in the Bangor area, so I'm partial to that part of Maine. A visit will help narrow things down even further. Good luck!

Kit-ree is a nice area. Mostly the small towns N/E of it. But you're right Forest. It's like dipping your toes in the lake.
