Tiny flys help!! (Franklin, Lee: landscaping, top, water)

In reality......I do have fruit flies in my kitchen when I have ripe bananas or tomatoes sitting out on the counter....AND because I compost all kitchen waste and have a container to hold the peelings, coffee grounds etc. and even though I empty it once or twice daily.....it still attracts the little black flies.

I have placed my compost in a large coffee can with a lid. That seems to help.

If they get bad I might do that.....but even the lid on the coffee can is one more step that might dissuade me form composting some scrap when I am busy....I have the compost in a covered container...but i just lift the lid...its not air tight. I do empty it several times a day in the summer due to the fruit flies.

I found where there comeing from yay!! My landlord did some work on my pipes in my kitchen and I relized since then we had them well I took a few things apart and found them nasty lil things thank god there gone yay lol. Thanks for the info everyone!!!

I quickly glanced at the title of this thread and thought it said "Tiny Flies from Hell!!" and I didn't think anything of it as it made perfect sense.

I'm glad you solved your problem, they can be annoying to no end.

I still think it does say that!!
That is the only explaination on where those "babies" could of come from.

them are scout flies for the maine skeeter.they go in and scout what you have been eating,drinking ect,,, then fly back the the skeeter platoon and let them know their findings.
