I grew up in Georgia, but I lived all over the place, so that my accent is so mixed that people in Texas thought I was a native Texan. Before we moved up, I told the group that they were just going to have to get used to being called "ya'll" because there is no word or combination thereof to replace it.LOL

I'm sure there is a grammatically correct alternative for "ya'll." But when a southerner says "you," he (or she) is directing their comments to one person. When we use the term "ya'll," it is intended to be all inclusive.

and then there is the popular "all y'all" as in "are all y'all together?"

I believe that in grammatical terms YOU is both singular and plural form of the pronoun....but one could say...."all of you" as in "I want all of you to come here."

In Romance Languages I thnk they make a distinction between singular and plural forms of "you"....isnt that the vous/votre difference?????

hehehe. Thanks Yall! Made me giggle first thing! I was reading some of the comments and the hubby said wait until we get up there and the 7 year old says Poppets ... instead of Puppets. They are going to giggle at him nonstop! There are other things he says that makes me stop and go..."What in the World!".... lol

Hope everyone is having a Great Saturday Morning!!!!

Elston and forest are right, Tim. But you know us Southerners. Why use one word when we can use ten and mangle all of them into our own dialect?

Ohhhhh saw this on Verenda's post and was curious:

Is Marden's like a Big Lots? They look similar when I did the Goo Search of them.

**not sure if it's okay to put the search name up...so I did partial.**

Tonight we drove by a runned-over polecat and a flattened fox.

What a deal!

Now we just need two stock pots to set them boiling in.

I tell you tomorrow, after 12 hours of boiling the meat will completely fall off the bone. Another few hours of boiling and the meat will totally fall apart into a broth. Then potatoes, carrots, garlic, and rosemary, mmmm, we gonna have us some good vittles.

All you alls is welcome to come get you some
