I'd go with the one that doesn't ride like a buckboard and will keep your goodies dry. When I was a kid, one of my Grandfather's buddies (a GM bigwig from Mass.) always showed up in his Cadillac way the hell back in the middle of nowhere. Somehow. Without getting stuck. The only Caddy that's ever been parked in front of the old camp.

I'm planning on taking the Wagoneer. I just need to dial it in a bit more. The M715 (red one) is perfect for woods excursions due to it's massive tires, low gearing, and winch, but it maxes out at 55 mph, and it is a 5/4 ton truck so it rides rough.

IMHO, the best way to explore is in an antique vehicle.

That Wagoneer is of the vintage when some had all wheel drive all the time. They were unequaled during "mud time".

The Wagoneer is a '76, and the M715 is a '67.

The Wagoneer is all wheel drive, so to speak. It has the first gen Quarda-Trac. It has a clutch pack in the transfer case that controls the front and rear, and it also can be locked in for full time 4wd.

The M715 has a NP200 with low when needed. The front is permanently locked in, but not engaged until 4wd is kicked in.

Since the border crossing at Daaquam closed about 10 years ago, don't go that route.

When you're loaded and headed to a Frenchie strip joint, a closed crossing means little.
