Wow, I'm shocked at that price. Well the MARC train from Perryville is substantially less expensive but you won't want to live there.

I didn't realize that he wouldn't be commuting daily. that opens things up a bit more. I would look at Chestertown MD. It's a small town, yes, but walkable with a handful of restaurants, etc. Also quite scenic. 36 miles of country roads to dover, 66 to Baltimore via the Bay Bridge. Go have fun on the weekends, you're close hours to Baltimore, DC and Philadelphia.

Thank you so much, HandsupThumbsDown! Chestertown is really cute, and it actually is a midpoint.. The commute would be longer for my fiance, but since he'd probably only go into work a few times a week, it wouldn't be so bad. It looks comparable to Annapolis in that it has little shops and restaurants and whatnot.. Probably more to do than Stevensville...This is the kind of town we were looking for. Thanks!

Kent County, where Chestertown is located is an extremely rural County. Nothing wrong with with that but be aware. It's also one of the poorer Counties in the state. Property taxes are considered high by the residents.

That is certainly true. Along the same vein (small, quaint, under 45 miles to Dover) is Chesapeake City. 60 miles to Baltimore via 95. Much closer, however, to suburbia and big box shopping in Elkton and Newark. Personally I'd prever to be further from that stuff, but hey - that's just me.

Nearby southern New Castle County DE might work, too, though most of it is just plain-jane suburbia.

I recommend Annapolis.
Annapolis is a place like no other it's charming without being boring, in fact there is quite a lot to do there.
Annapolis has great attractions, including it charming historic district, it's
city dock overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, and The Naval Academy.
You'll find that the people in Annapolis are very friendly and welcoming.

It can be considered expensive to live in Annapolis, but it's very responsible when you consider how special it is.

Wow maybe you could rent somewhere near Hogn Hopkins and commute to Dolware by metro or bus. Just chose a nice affordable safe place with grear commute I think the metro and thrn a bus is your best option instead of driving and a place with great nightlife¡¡ x

Ok I just found this thread and hope my answer is not too late. Annapolis is nice but it is expensive. I had a friend who lived at the bottom of Kent Island and loved it. She had a small resonably priced home. But she was 10 miles south of the highway, where everything is, and the expression is "if you forgot it, forget it". In other words too far to go back. But not all of the homes are that far down.
