I actually do love living in Maryland!

This is the first state I have lived in where I can really see where my tax dollars go: I use the school system, the parks and rec system (awesome!), decent roads (omg, you should see the states we drove through to get here from across the country), the libraries and their activities, and also our police and fire systems. All have been great, even the guy who pulled me over, very courteous and doing his job.

I have also lived in a high property tax/no income tax state, and that state's school system is awful. The tax system there also keeps home prices depressed, and it is not a balanced tax at all.

So, I do not mind being rightfully taxed for what I personally use and rely on every day.

I total agree. I'd much rather give my taxes for the excellent services (parks, libraries, road, etc.) in Maryland than have substandard services and schools. Maybe Maryland is a great place to raise a family since most of the benefits are for the family (particularly if you have special needs kids). BUT, if you're retired and don't use the senior centers, libraries, state parks, or other community services then maybe a lower tax state (like Texas) would be more to your liking.

If you're affected by this change... tough noogies.

They should raise this INCOME tax (on the RICH) even higher...
and then LOWER the sales tax too

Here....let me correct your list:

Illegal immigrants, Casa de Maryland, the able-bodied people of working age in Baltimore City that glom off of the system.

The bloated state government, the administration top-heavy school systems.

I see where my tax dollars go to as well.

When a governmental agency has 1,300 cars for its 2,000 employees, I'd say an egregious lack of oversight and fiscal discipline exists, and that these issues are most likely not limited to that particular agency.

This happens everywhere. It's like a charity - 80% of the donation goes to the cause while the other 20% is administrative costs. Same here, 80% (WAG) goes to the things we love and 20% gets sucked down the drain.

So you're OK paying 20% more in taxes to fund illegal aliens and people who refuse to work?

I'm not o.k., it would be nice if it was 1-2%. (Remember that I don't know what the actual number is WAG - wild a** guess). I hate paying for Section 8 folks who have flat screens and escalades, I hate paying doctors who cheat the medicaid system, I hate subsidizing farmers who don't grow anything (and then 10 yrs later sell their land to build subdivisions and make millions), I hate paying subsidies to corporations that make billions of dollars (a quarter). It's like the sevice charge of $2 at the ATM. It just sucks, and yes, I try to vote for people at the local level (city/county) that I think will help the situation, but I'm not holding my breath.
