Looking for info on Hunt Valley/Cockeysville (Baltimore, Towson: apartment complexes, for rent)

Accepting a job in Hunt Valley/Cockeysville and know nothing about the area aside from it is N. Baltimore county. Looking for some info related to places to live (rent) in the area, options to commute or stay local, and the general lay-of-the-land.

Single male, have no kids/pets. Don't much care about nightlife as I will be a workaholic for the most part. Any info would be appreciated.

Your choices and options are virtually unlimited... except for costs.

Being a new in town grind you should probably look to SHARE with someone for a while.
And to do that sharing somewhere out in the 'burbs near work. Start Here

You can find a place of your own after you've been around for a while...
and have a better sense of the area and people and can see those options first hand.

Understood, and thanks for the link I will def look into that. Can anyone provide info on the area in terms of it was good but is on the decline/is decent or so-and-so neighboring area is an option to commute into Cockeysville. Rent-wise I'm looking about $1300 or so. I suppose I'm looking for someplace quiet but safety is always an obvious concern (i've lived in areas of dubious rapport and it is something I'd rather avoid)

Hunt Valley is a very upper-end suburb of Baltimore. Cockeysville is almost as nice an area. I'd consider myself fortunate to have a job in the area. I would only be concerned that you can't afford to live there on a $1300 budget.

You will find good shopping, bars, sports clubs, high-end car dealers, light rail into the city, etc. If you want to meet people, go to the Wegman's take-out food counter at lunch.

You might also look at living in Towson for more young people.

I'd suggest looking on Realtor.com for individually owned condos. There's one for rent at $1375/month on Symphony Circle, Cockeysville. It's high on a hill in a very pretty area, so it's away from the traffic noise. The only disadvantage to the Hunt Valley area is the amount of traffic on Shawan Road and York Road, so I'd avoid place directly on those two roads. Otherwise you will have a choice of attractive places in Cockeysville and Towson. (BTW, the post office name is Cockeysville, and "Hunt Valley" is the generic name for the office/shopping complexes.)

Cockeysville itself is pretty nice and has a fair share of apartment complexes, many of which are safe and should fit your budget. I knew some people that lived in Steeplechase for awhile and never had any issues, after a quick google search looks like their 1 BR's start at under $1,000.
